    Five laps at JDM Day

JDM Day at Sonoma gave us five laps of the raceway at 35 miles per hour in the 1989 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo — right-hand drive, Japanese-market, and finally on track.

    What happened

We brought the 1989 Japanese-market Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo to JDM Day at Sonoma Raceway.

The event gave us the opportunity to drive five laps of the track at 35 miles per hour.

It was not a race or a high-speed session. It was a chance to experience Sonoma from inside the right-hand-drive Z32 and be part of a day centered on Japanese cars.

    What I learned

    • —A few controlled laps can still make a familiar car and a famous track feel completely different.
    • —Not every meaningful track experience has to be about speed; sometimes simply getting the car onto the circuit is the memory.

    The car

    Our 1989 JDM Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo — a right-hand-drive Z32 — made the five-lap drive around Sonoma Raceway.

    The people

JDM Day brought together owners and enthusiasts for a shared day at Sonoma Raceway.

    Next improvement

Keep documenting the Z32's story and look for more opportunities to experience the car where it belongs — around other enthusiasts and at the track.
